Before her legal career, Ms. Ortega worked with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS). There, she gained the compassion and knowledge to help families through the state system in times of need. Growing up without siblings pushed Ms. Ortega to find creative ways to entertain herself. She organized outdoor plays and musical shows for residents.
This early passion for performance translates directly into her legal practice. It gives her a strong foundation when she argues cases before a judge. After earning her undergraduate degree in music, she attended WMU Thomas M. Cooley Law School and graduated magna cum laude. Now, she guides clients through a different system: family court.
Attorney Courtney Sierra shares this commitment to child-focused advocacy. She brings her own distinct background to the firm. As our senior associate, she focuses her casework entirely on family law cases. She handles high-asset divorce, custody, parenting time and support cases.
Previously, she worked as a psychiatric rehabilitative therapist. She helped families through emotional and psychological crises. Through this work, she realized she could better serve clients as a family law attorney. Her background gives her a unique skill set for high-conflict cases. Before joining our firm, she gained experience at a legal aid clinic and as a family court clerk. She works hard to get clients the results they need. She keeps them informed every step of the way.

During her years with the MDHHS, Ms. Ortega learned a lot about its various divisions, including Children’s Protective Services (CPS).
